In 1956, the Tennessee Congress of Parents and Teachers
established, and has maintained, the Scholarship Fund to give
financial assistance to young people who need this additional
help to obtain a degree toward the goal of becoming a teacher
or work in a child related field.
Currently, Tennessee PTA awards $1,000.00 scholarships to
selected high school graduating seniors. Each scholarship is a
one-time, non-renewable award.
PURPOSE OF THE SCHOLARSHIP FUND
To provide additional funds to worthy students who are preparing to teach children or work in a child related field.
|
HOW THE SCHOLARSHIP FUND IS MAINTAINED The Scholarship Fund is maintained through monies received from Honorary State Life Memberships, memorial and honor gifts, and through direct donations. Life membership in the Tennessee PTA is an honorary membership presented by local PTAs/PTSAs or councils in recognition of faithful and unselfish service in the interest of children and youth. A memorial/honor gift may be given by an individual or group.
