The Tennessee PTA board of managers include executive committee members and committee chairmen.  The board meets three times a year. The committee chairmen also serve as members of one of the three Tennessee PTA divisions:
Division of Child and Youth Advocacy,
Division of Communications and Student Programs, or
Division of Membership and Outreach.

The three vice presidents each oversee a division.

State PTA Dues

And did you know... the Tennessee PTA is made up of...over 90,000 members

The one dollar ($1.00) which goes to the Tennessee PTA:

maintains and staffs the State Office;
makes possible the Tennessee PTA Convention;
provides leadership training through workshops, conferences, and seminars;
adopts a legislative program and works closely with the Legislature to promote interest in and action for legislation affecting health, education and welfare of all children; makes possible the annual State Legislative Conference.
sends members of the state board to regions, councils, and local PTAs to give leadership training and assistance, upon request;
defrays expenses of the state president (a volunteer) when representing the Tennessee PTA at state board meetings and conferences of agencies cooperating in the field of child welfare, and at meetings such as: Tennessee Education Association, Tennessee School Boards Association, State Department of Education, State Board of Education, etc;
defrays expenses of state officers and members of the Board of Managers (all volunteers) to state board meetings, state convention, conferences and other assignments;
publishes the Tennessee PTA Bulletin and maintains its circulation list. Each local unit president receives a free subscription to the Bulletin;
prepares and mails thousands of letters, membership cards, and special materials. Fills orders from local units, councils, and regions for jewelry and PTA publications;
prepares and distributes a “Local Unit Packet” to each local unit president;
develops and provides materials necessary for local units to plan beneficial programs and successful membership campaigns;
maintains a non-profit status for its participating units, with IRS;
sponsors special educational activities and many other projects for the welfare of children

National PTA Dues

Did you know...the National PTA made up of…over 5 million members

PTA is the largest non-profit, voluntary organization in this country. In order to appreciate its value, members should be informed as to how their dues are used, as well as to the benefits which come from belonging to the State and National PTAs and councils where applicable.

The two dollars and twenty-five cents ($2.25) which goes to the National PTA:

maintains the National Office and staff where all the business of this organization is transacted and all records are kept, and maintains a legislative office in Washington, D.C.;
makes possible the National PTA Convention - a great source of inspiration to local, council and state leaders;
prints and distributes to State PTA many National PTA publications and yearly membership cards;
produces videos which are made available to all local units;
mails to each PTA president one copy of Our Children Magazine, provides the National PTA Quick Reference Guides and many other resource materials to help carry out an effective program in their community;
pays traveling expenses for the officers and other members of the National Board of Directors (who donate their time and services), and for the National Field Staff for leadership training and consultant services to the various states;
provides a National PTA representative at each state convention and for field service.
makes possible the National PTA Legislative Conference, which is held in Washington, D.C.;
makes possible involvement in working to solve the problems of TV programming, alcohol advertising, alcohol and drug abuse, missing and exploited children, nutrition, juvenile justice and much more.
